Under the auspices of His Excellency Najib bin Ali bin Ahmed Al Rawas, undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs,Gallery Sarah cordially invites you to the exhibition opening of ‘’The Spirit of Cohesion’’ on the 3rd of January 2017 by Soud Al Buhriy. This exhibition marks Omani artist Soud Al Buhriy’s first solo show at Gallery Sarah in Muscat. Soud Al Buhriy is an Omani Photographer who relied on himself in the acquisition of knowledge. He began his career in photography since the early grades. Gallery Sarah is showcasing an array of spectacular photographs of different Mosques around Oman, in which the photographer is depicting the deeper and important role that the mosques play in creating an atmosphere of tolerance and bridging ties in the community. Besides the distinctive architecture of each mosque, Soud also notifies its social aspects. Taking an advantage of the stunning nature of Oman, Soud functions the amusing landscape to form the entire narrative image. The series depicts the concept of Mosques as not just a venue where Muslims pray five times a day but also a venue that plays a central role as a place of knowledge and education. Equally a mosque is a place to get acquainted and make friends with fellow worshippers, which would eventually lead to the formation of close family ties and help in building community cohesion. Soud used his unique vision to express his concept of the deeper role of mosques and emphasized it by different techniques, such as doing monochromatic theme rather than colored images to refrain distraction and focus on the subject matter. Another point the viewer can notice is that there is no life existence; the photographer intended to wait for a long time to take a shot without any human beings or animals in the surroundings. In terms of finishing, Soud defied the concept of framing his works with black and chose white frame as an attempt to continue portraying the image and grant a comprehensive design to his subject matter. Soud Al Buhriy is an Omani Photographer who relied on himself in the acquisition of knowledge. He began his career in photography since the early grades. In 1993 he joined the Photography Club in the Omani Society of Fine Arts and became an active member in “Photographic Society of Oman”. He has participated in numerous exhibitions hosted there. In 2006, Saud began pursuit of his personal photography “Panorama of the Capital Muscat”. The project lasted for two years resulted in the success of his own exhibition in February 2008, hosted by the Omani Society of Fine Arts, the exhibition contained thirty-five unique panoramic images of its kind. Later the same year he displayed some of these unique images in Berlin-Republic of Germany with the participation of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture of Oman. In 2013 the second project was held, entitled "The Essence of the Mosque". Soud tried through that exhibition to illustrate the importance and depth of the mosque and its role in tolerance and deepen ties in the community as well as for its usual place of worship. The exhibition was displayed in Bait Al Baranda Museum and the Photographic Society of Oman.
